Hey guys! Long time no post huh?  Sorry about the small hiatus; uni has started and I’ve been busy getting stuff to and from my apartment.  It’s all a bit chaotic.  I’m also a bit sick.  I don’t really now what I have but I’m trying to get as much rest as I can between classes and at night.

When I’m not reading, I’m usually watching anime.  I’ve been watching it since I was very young and I’ve been here ever since.   Today I wanna talk about one of my favorites action anime, one that is a bit unusual but has had me hooked for months.

Shokugeki no Souma / Food Wars!

Genre: Comedy, Ecchi, School

Length: Season One: 24 episodes; Season Two: ongoing!

 watch here!

Yukihira Souma’s dream is to become a full-time chef in his father’s restaurant and surpass his father’s culinary skill. But just as Yukihira graduates from middle school, his father, Yukihira Jouichirou, closes down the restaurant to cook in Europe. Although downtrodden, Souma’s fighting spirit is rekindled by a challenge from Jouichirou which is to survive in an elite culinary school where only 10% of the students graduate. Can Souma survive? I started watching Food Wars! last year ( I think) based on the cover.  I went in blind and fell in love with the main character very quickly.  If you’re one of those people that watches the Food Network for fun, this is for you.  The best way I can describe it is high action cooking with a side of soft porn.  Not that there is actual sex involved but the show does take the word “foodgasm” a bit seriously; its more hilarious than erotic, trust me.

THAT ASIDE, the characters are very lovable and unique.  The cast is a bit big but they’re definitely not forgettable; their design and their specialty cooking set them clearly apart.     Our main character, Souma, is a 15 year old kid who kinda thinks he’s got everything in the bag (and he sorta does) but now he’s being faced with cutthroat cooks that want him gone.  The battles will be fierce and delicious    and I highly recommend you watch this with a snack.

(keep scrolling, I’m not done fangirling yet)

Out of all the characters, I have a lot of favorites.  Of course, I love the main boy.  He’s a  cocky hero with awesome skills who is also a bit of a doofus; you can’t help but root for him every time he faces a challenge.

he looks like he’s gonna conquer the world

Next we have Isshiki-senpai.  Local shady idiot who could probably beat EVERYONE but he’s too busy being…weird.  Nonetheless, I love his design and I can’t wait to see him cook!

the face of sin

Last but not least we have Ryo Kurokiba.  He was the biggest surprise for me.  I already liked his design but seeing him in action was something else entirely.  Keep an eye on him.

my demon son

That’s all for today! Hope you enjoyed this and let me know in the comments if there is  specific genre you’d like me to recommend! Until next time ~
